West Virginia football players must keep their moves on the field, as head coach Rich Rodriguez has officially banned dancing on TikTok.
Rodriguez, who returned to lead the Mountaineers after previously coaching the team from 2001 to 2007, explained his decision during spring practice this week.
“We try to have a hard edge, or whatever, and you’re in there in your tights, dancing on TikTok,” he said. “It ain’t quite the image of our program that I want.”
The 61-year-old coach emphasized that football is about team unity, not individual spotlight, and believes social media trends like TikTok take away from that mentality.
“Everything today is about trying to make everybody individual. Football is one of the last things that has got to be more about the team than the individual. So I banned dancing on TikTok. I guess I did that.”
