Daddy Yankee has submitted a request to dissolve multiple companies that he co-founded with his former wife, Mireddys González Castellanos, following their contentious divorce earlier this year.
A statement from the reps of the reggaeton star – real name Ramón Ayala Rodríguez – cited “deep personal differences” as the reason for dissolving the companies, as well as “a complete lack of communication and information, which makes it impossible to continue any joint commercial operations”.
The new petition seeks to dissolve several business entities that Castellanos allegedly retains operational control over, while others have already been dissolved, Rolling Stone reports.
Rodríguez’s lawyers have asked the court to close these “longstanding business affairs in a structured and legal manner, as there is no longer a foundation of trust or communication to support them”.
The couple, who were married for three decades and also served as business partners during that time, saw their personal and professional relationship deteriorate in late 2020.
After uncovering alleged irregularities, Daddy Yankee removed Castellanos from her managerial position at the end of December.
Their divorce was finalized in February, and in the following month, Daddy Yankee filed a lawsuit against Castellanos and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, for financial mismanagement and defamation. He accused them of unlawfully withdrawing $100 million from his companies’ bank accounts.
