EPL: I asked De Bruyne to leave Man City – Guardiola

Guardiola

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has disclosed that he, along with certain key officials at the club, made the decision to part ways with Kevin de Bruyne.

After a successful decade at the Etihad, de Bruyne will depart this summer with numerous trophies to his name.

Despite being willing to stay at City with a diminished role, the 33-year-old will not be offered a new contract as Guardiola and outgoing director of football Txiki Begiristain work on rebuilding the squad.

“The decision has been made for the club, and the club is the club,” Guardiola said.

“Me, Txiki, and the club, so this is what it is.

“The club has to move forward, move on, and replicating this kind of player is so difficult.

“But yeah, these are the qualities and things we have to find.”
