Leicester City’s veteran striker Jamie Vardy is preparing to bid farewell to the club at the conclusion of this season.
After spending 13 successful years at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes officially announced his departure on Thursday.
Vardy, who signed with Leicester in 2012 from non-league side Fleetwood Town, leaves behind a legacy as the club’s record Premier League goal-scorer, tallying an impressive 198 goals in 498 appearances.
His standout season came in 2015-16 when he scored 24 goals to help Leicester secure their historic Premier League title.
“To the fans of Leicester, I’m gutted that this day is coming, but I knew it was going to come eventually,” said Vardy on a video posted by Leicester on social media.
“I’ve spent 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority have all been highs.
“It’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about it, but I think the timing it right.”
