Popular Ibadan-based Fuji musician, Taye Adebisi, also known as Taye Currency, has revealed that he lost over N10 million to a failed Ponzi scheme, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), which crashed in April 2025.
In a now-viral video from a live performance, the 50-year-old lamented that he and several of his crew members were introduced to the scheme by close associates who convinced them with stories of quick returns.
“I withdrew my insurance savings and invested on April 1 — everything vanished,” he said emotionally, citing names like Sodiq, Small London, and Lateef as those who lured him in.
CBEX had promised to double investors’ capital within 30 days, but by April 2025, the platform collapsed — reportedly wiping out over ₦1.3 trillion in funds from more than 300,000 Nigerians.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has confirmed that CBEX was never registered, while the EFCC has launched a full investigation into the crypto fraud.
