Kamala Harris, the former Vice President of the United States, has voiced her support for the ongoing protests by Americans against President Donald Trump and billionaire ally Elon Musk.
Despite her defeat by Trump in the 2024 election, Kamala Harris took to her social media account to commend the American people for standing up against the policies of Trump’s administration.
She expressed confidence that the collective voices of the people would ultimately be more powerful than those of “unelected billionaires”.
“Today in every state across our nation, Americans are standing up to the administration as they implement Project 2025 at full speed.
“Thank you for using your voices and the power of protest to stand for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; for the Department of Education and programmes like Head Start; for clean air and water; and for the right to make decisions about your own body without government interference.
“The voices of working people will always be louder than the unelected billionaires,” Kamala Harris wrote.
On April 5, 2025, thousands of protesters filled the streets of the US to oppose Trump’s administration and its significant policy changes, including reductions in government spending.
In response, the White House declared that the early impacts of Trump’s policies were already being seen by Americans. The Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, had been conducting investigations into government expenditures in sectors such as education and healthcare in recent weeks.
