Coachella 2025: Lady Gaga suffers microphone issues during historic performance

Lady Gaga sued by surfboard brand over Mayhem logo

Lady Gaga faced microphone troubles during her second Coachella performance on Friday night.

While performing her second song, “Abracadabra,” the Bad Romance star encountered technical difficulties with her headset microphone. The audio quality dropped, prompting her to temporarily hold the mouthpiece in place.

Despite her efforts, the mic began cutting out, causing parts of her vocals to be inaudible and drowned out by the backing track.

At the time,Lady Gaga was elevated above the stage on a tall, cage-like structure designed to resemble a skirt, which made it impossible to address the issue immediately. She had to continue with the malfunctioning mic until she could reach her tech team.

Eventually, she vanished into the structure and re-emerged at ground level with a handheld microphone. She finished “Abracadabra” and performed “Judas” using the bulkier device.

Lady Gaga left the stage briefly and came back for “Scheiße” wearing a new headset mic, but the sound remained unclear, forcing her to hold it close to her mouth. The issue was finally resolved when she exited once more and returned with a fully functional headset mic for her song “Garden of Eden.”

According to The Sun, the 39-year-old addressed the malfunction towards the end of her set, telling the crowd, “I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live. All I can do is give you my best and I am definitely giving you my best tonight.”

Gaga’s Coachella set also featured hits such as Born This Way, Shallow, Alejandro and Paparazzi.

Coachella continues this weekend in Indio, California, with headlining sets from Green Day, Travis Scott and Post Malone.
