The Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as Killaboi, from Doha, Qatar, back to Nigeria.

Killaboi is set to stand trial for the alleged murder of 21-year-old Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a top-performing student at Lead City University.

Declared wanted by authorities in October 2023, Killaboi arrived in Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025. His return follows months of extensive collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, and judicial bodies in Qatar.

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the investigation began after the victim’s family submitted a petition through their legal representatives on September 29, 2024. The case was handed over to INTERPOL NCB Abuja for further action.

Police allege that Nnayereugo murdered Onuwabhagbe on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos. He fled the country shortly after the incident and later posted a video online, which authorities believe was an attempt to derail the investigation.

Following the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice, Nnayereugo was apprehended in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, while using a false identity, “Kanu Princeton Samuel.” However, he escaped custody during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

Subsequent intelligence efforts tracked his movements through various regions including West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East. Killaboi ultimately settled in Doha, Qatar, on January 24, 2025, under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye,” and gained employment using a counterfeit Guinean passport.

His real identity was confirmed in February 2025 through biometric data exchanged between INTERPOL NCB Abuja and its counterpart in Doha, which led to his arrest by Qatari authorities. Upon a formal request from Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice, the Qatari government approved his extradition.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the international collaboration that made the arrest and extradition possible. He extended appreciation to the Qatari government, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their assistance, and reassured Nigerians that the suspect will face trial as the Force remains committed to justice and public safety.
