Real Madrid defender, Rudiger slammed with six match ban

Rudiger

Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger has been given a six-match ban for his red card in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, while teammate Jude Bellingham had his sending off overturned.

Rüdiger, Bellingham, and Lucas Vázquez were all dismissed in extra time for protesting the referee’s decision.

In his report, De Burgos said Antonio had been sent off in the 120th minute “for throwing an object from the technical area” and “had to be restrained by various members of the coaching staff, showing an aggressive attitude.”

Vázquez, who had also already been withdrawn from the match, was dismissed for “entering the field of play.”

Bellingham was carded after the final whistle for “approaching our position with an aggressive attitude, having to be held back by teammates.”

The Spanish football federation’s disciplinary committee imposed a six-game ban on Rüdiger and a two-game suspension on Vázquez.
