The Supreme Court overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision in Abuja recognizing Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In a unanimous judgment, the apex court ruled that the Court of Appeal did not have jurisdiction to declare Abure as the National Chairman as it pertained to the party’s internal leadership affairs.
The court noted that his tenure had already expired.
The appeal filed by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman and another party was deemed meritorious by the Supreme Court, while the cross-appeal filed by the faction of the LP was dismissed for lacking merit.
