Why I hate being called a legend – RMD

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) recently shared his dislike for being called a legend.

In an interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, he explained that he considers the title to be a “scam.”

RMD believes that actors such as Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie are more deserving of the legendary status, as he does not feel he has reached that level in his career yet. Being referred to as a legend makes him feel like an old man ready for retirement.

I think all those legend things are a scam. I have my legends like Uncle Olu Jacobs and Uncle Peter; those are our ancestors, our legends,” he said.

“I was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children.
“So I don’t subscribe to that. I think it is a scam when they call me a legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighbourhood of retired people or people who should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it.”
