Adeola, daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George, who went missing four years ago after being trafficked to Mali, has finally been rescued and returned safely to Nigeria.
The Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed the heartwarming news via her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday. She shared photos of Adeola’s reunion with her, actor Adeniyi Johnson, and actress Biola Adebayo, who played a pivotal role in bringing attention to the case.
“Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years, is back home from Mali where she was trafficked to. Just received her with Biola Adebayo who broke the story and Niyi Johnson. Details later!” Dabiri-Erewa wrote.
The case first gained national attention when Jumoke George made an emotional plea during an appearance on Biola Adebayo’s “Talk to B” podcast, revealing the heartbreak of losing contact with her daughter.
“Dear Nigerians, please pray for me. I have never ruined anyone’s life. I am tired, I can no longer bear it. I don’t have a home, I don’t have anything, and a child of mine is missing,” the actress tearfully shared.
Jumoke also disclosed the profound emotional and physical toll the situation took on her, including bouts of homelessness and ill health during the prolonged search for Adeola.
Thanks to widespread public support, media attention, and the swift action by NiDCOM and other stakeholders, Adeola’s return marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life. The commission has assured the public that it will continue to assist in her rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
The rescue has sparked a wave of joy and relief across social media, with many praising the efforts of everyone involved in bringing Adeola back home.
