Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has raised an alert after her personal email account was hacked.
In a post shared on her X page on Friday, Dabiri-Erewa disclosed that unknown individuals had gained access to her email and may attempt to use it to send misleading messages.
“Please be informed that my email account ([email protected]) has been compromised by hackers,” she stated.
She urged the public, colleagues, and associates to disregard any emails coming from the account or any other address claiming to be from her until the issue is resolved.
“Kindly ignore any emails purportedly sent from me using this or any other address until I regain full control of the account,” she added.
Dabiri-Erewa also noted that she will be unable to respond to messages sent to the compromised email during this period.
According to her, efforts are already underway to secure the account and restore full access, while she appealed for patience from those trying to reach her.
The incident highlights ongoing cybersecurity concerns, especially for public officials whose accounts may be targeted for misinformation or fraud.
