After nearly a decade of legal battles, Brad Pitt is finally opening up about the end of his marriage to Angelina Jolie. In a new interview with GQ, the 61-year-old actor downplayed the emotional weight of finalizing the divorce in December 2024.
“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” Pitt said. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
Pitt and Jolie, once known as “Brangelina,” had been entangled in a high-profile legal feud since their 2016 split, involving custody of their six children and a lengthy dispute over Château Miraval, their shared French winery.
Despite the drama, Pitt said his personal life has long been public fodder:
“It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro,” he remarked. “It’s always been this kind of nagging time suck … Mostly I feel pretty … My life is fairly contained. It feels pretty warm and secure.”

Pitt and Jolie share six children: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). While Jolie maintains a close bond with the children, Pitt is reportedly estranged, with Shiloh legally dropping his last name in 2023.
Pitt, now dating Ines de Ramon, has chosen to remain mostly silent on the divorce’s aftermath — but a source previously told People he is “happy that the divorce is behind him.”
