Cassie has confirmed that she received a $20 million (£15 million) settlement from Sean “Diddy” Combs in her civil case against him.
During the closing moments of her testimony at Combs’ federal trial on Wednesday, the singer, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, disclosed the precise amount she was paid after filing a lawsuit in November 2023.
Taking the witness stand, Cassie Ventura stated that Combs and his affiliated businesses paid her $20 million.
In the civil suit, Cassie Ventura accused the music mogul of subjecting her to a “cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking” during their 11-year relationship.
Just a day after filing, both sides reached an agreement and settled the matter out of court.
Although Combs’s legal team had previously referred to the deal as a “substantial eight-figure settlement,” they had not revealed specific terms until Ventura’s testimony.
Following the settlement, Combs released a video apology to Ventura, addressing a 2016 incident captured on hotel surveillance footage in which he physically assaulted her.
Despite the settlement, Combs later faced additional lawsuits from other individuals alleging sexual assault and abuse, dating from 1991 to 2009.
A subsequent federal criminal investigation led to charges against him for sex trafficking and racketeering. He has pleaded not guilty.
Elsewhere in her testimony, Ventura became emotional as she recounted an alleged rape by Combs in her living room after what was intended to be a peaceful dinner for “closure” in 2018.
“I remember crying, saying no, but it was very fast,” she said.
Cassie Ventura, who is currently expecting her third child with husband Alex Fine, explained her decision to testify.
“I’m here to do the right thing. I can’t carry this anymore… the shame, the guilt,” the 38-year-old stated.
The trial remains ongoing.
