During a TV interview on the NBC News morning show Today, Dolly Parton became emotional while discussing her late husband.
The 79-year-old music icon opened up about her recent loss, revealing that she was heartbroken after the death of her husband, Dean, last month at the age of 82.
Host Savannah Guthrie asked Dolly Parton how she was coping since the loss of her husband as she appeared on the show to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her Dollywood theme park.
Becoming tearful, Parton said, “Oh, you know what, I get very emotional when people bring it up. But we were together 60 years.
“I’ve loved him since I was 18 years old. It’s a big adjustment, just trying to change patterns and habits. I’ll do fine, and I’m very involved in my work, and that’s been the best thing that could happen to me.”
She added, “I’ll always miss him, of course, and always love him. He was a great partner to me.”
Dolly Parton and Dean famously fell for each other at first sight upon a chance meeting at a laundromat in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1964.
Reflecting on they moment they met during an interview in 2016, Carl said, per Entertainment Tonight, “My first thought was I’m gonna marry that girl.
“My second thought was, Lord she’s good lookin’. And that was the day my life began. I wouldn’t trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth.”
