Donald Trump granted clemency to NBA YoungBoy and many others on Wednesday.
“I did not do the pardon application, but can confirm he was pardoned,” the rapper’s lawyer told Rolling Stone.
YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, issued a statement posted to Instagram the same day: “I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building – as a man, as a father, and as an artist.
“This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I’ve worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this.”
In December 2024, the rapper pleaded guilty to a gun possession charge in Louisiana from 2020, as well as another gun charge in Utah.
He was sentenced to 23 months in prison with credit for time served. NBA YoungBoy was found with two guns during an arrest while filming a music video in Baton Rouge.
Despite his legal troubles, he remains one of the most popular artists globally and is gearing up for his first headlining tour, the MASA Tour, starting in Dallas in September.
