Former Manchester United and Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag, is on the verge of becoming the new head coach at Bayer Leverkusen.
He is expected to take over from Xabi Alonso, who is departing to join Real Madrid this summer.
The update was shared by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.
Romano stated on X on Thursday: “Bayer Leverkusen made progress in talks with Erik ten Hag to become their new head coach.
“Ten Hag has given his total availability after direct contact taking place earlier this week.”
The Dutch manager has been unemployed since his dismissal by United in November.
Ajax attempted to rehire him following Francesco Farioli’s exit, which he attributed to “disagreements” with the club’s board.
Technical director Alex Kroes acknowledged having spoken with the manager last weekend but declined to provide further details.
