A terrifying incident unfolded at Jennifer Aniston’s $21 million Bel-Air mansion on Monday, when an elderly man rammed his vehicle through the estate’s gates while the beloved Friends star was inside the property.
According to TMZ, the suspect, believed to be in his 70s, drove his car into Aniston’s secure compound just after noon PT.
According to police, Aniston, 56, was home at the time of the breach but did not come into contact with the intruder.
Sources say Aniston’s private security team acted swiftly, rushing to the vehicle after the crash, forcibly removing the driver and detaining him at gunpoint while awaiting the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
LAPD spokesperson Officer Jeff Lee confirmed that officers responded to a “burglary suspect” call around 12:20 p.m. PT. The suspect, who had driven through the gate, did not make it inside the home and was taken into custody without further incident.
“There was a security guard on premises who was able to detain that suspect until officers arrived,” said the LAPD. “The resident was home at the time.”
Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage to the entry gates and property infrastructure and expect the suspect to be booked for felony property damage.
No motive has been disclosed yet, and whether the driver knew Aniston lived there is unclear.
Thankfully, Jennifer Aniston was not harmed during the incident. She remained safely inside her residence and did not interact with the suspect.
This incident is a stark reminder of the security risks celebrities face, even in gated, high-end neighborhoods.
