“I expect to be able to beat this” – Joe Biden Speaks Publicly for the First Time Since Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Joe Biden

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has broken his silence following the announcement of his prostate cancer diagnosis, offering reassurance to the public that he remains in high spirits.

Speaking to reporters after a Memorial Day event, Biden confidently said:

“I’m feeling good… I expect to be able to beat this.”

Biden’s Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

According to a statement from his office, the 81-year-old former president has been diagnosed with high-grade prostate cancer, assigned a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5). This is considered one of the most aggressive forms of the disease.

A Gleason score of 9 indicates that the cancer cells are likely to spread quickly, making the condition more serious and requiring immediate medical attention. Cancer Research UK notes that high-grade prostate cancer often grows and spreads faster than lower-grade forms.

What’s Next for Biden?

Although details about his treatment plan have not yet been disclosed, Biden’s upbeat tone suggests that he and his medical team are preparing for an active approach to fight the disease.

His diagnosis comes amid ongoing public attention on his post-presidency life and possible health concerns, though he appears eager to show strength and optimism in the face of the challenge.
