Security forces have reportedly arrested Popular Nigerian influencer Jojooflele in Abuja after leading a peaceful protest demanding the release of fellow activist and social media critic VeryDarkMan (Martins Vincent Otse).
The protest, held in Wuse, was sparked by VeryDarkMan’s May 2, 2025 arrest at a GTBank branch, where he had accompanied his mother to contest unauthorised deductions labeled as “loan repayments.”
VDM had earlier shared proof of the suspicious debits on social media, prompting massive public concern before his surprise detention by EFCC operatives.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has called the arrest baseless and politically motivated, claiming VDM is being targeted for exposing corruption and championing truth.
Jojooflele’s arrest has further ignited conversations about freedom of expression, police brutality, and the shrinking space for dissent in Nigeria.
