Judge denies Diddy’s bid for mistrial

A judge has denied Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ legal team’s request for a mistrial in his ongoing federal racketeering and sex trafficking case.

Diddy’s attorneys had asked for a mistrial, accusing the prosecution of misconduct during the trial.

They claimed that prosecutors improperly hinted during questioning that Combs had a role in destroying evidence related to the investigation of a car bombing involving rapper Scott Mescudi, also known as Kid Cudi.

However, the judge swiftly rejected the motion.

“There was absolutely no testimony from the witness that was prejudicial in any way, shape, or form,” Judge Arun Subramanian stated.

While mistrial motions are not unusual in lengthy federal cases involving extensive evidence and many witnesses, this was the first such motion in Diddy’s trial.

The request came shortly after proceedings resumed in a New York courtroom on Wednesday morning.

Diddy is facing federal charges that include sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transporting individuals for prostitution. He was arrested in September 2024 and has pleaded not guilty to all five charges.

The trial is projected to last approximately six more weeks. If found guilty on all counts, Combs could be sentenced to life in prison.
