Kanye West, now known as Ye, has not accused his ex-wife Kim Kardashian—whom he was married to from 2014 until 2022—of violating their custody agreement multiple times, as confirmed by Complex.
Although TMZ initially reported the cease and desist letter as authentic, the outlet later retracted the claim, calling the letter fake. The hoax letter had alleged that Kim left their 11-year-old daughter alone in a car during parts of the Met Gala.
TMZ originally described the letter—allegedly from Ye and his current wife Bianca Censori’s lawyer—as demanding Kim stop actions that supposedly violated Ye’s parental rights, exploited their children, and breached their custody agreement. The letter also falsely claimed that their daughter North was subjected to excessive media exposure at the Met Gala.
TMZ has since updated the story, citing a source with firsthand knowledge who said Kim’s team sees the letter as a publicity stunt. Her lawyer, Laura Wasser, reportedly never received any such letter. Kanye’s representatives also told Complex they had no connection to it.
A representative for Ye’s brand, YZY, confirmed to Complex that the legal firm named in the letter was never hired by Kanye West.
Other false accusations in the letter included claims that Ye was being denied access to his children (including a disputed statement that he hadn’t seen his son Saint in 2025) and that his children were being exploited without his consent.
The bogus demands reportedly included halting the publication or sharing of photos and videos of their children on social media, prohibiting their participation in public events without Ye’s approval, ensuring Kanye West had consistent access to the children, and removing all social media content involving the children that Ye had not agreed to.
This fake letter surfaced shortly after news broke that Kanye West and Bianca were preparing legal action against celebrity dentist Dr. Thomas P. Connelly.
