Manchester United have completed a major summer signing, securing the services of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers after triggering his £62.5 million release clause.
Cunha, 25, had a standout season in the 2024/25 Premier League, netting 15 goals and providing 6 assists in 33 appearances for Wolves. His consistent form caught the attention of top clubs across Europe, but United moved swiftly to secure the deal.
The Brazilian has agreed to personal terms and will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford. He is also expected to be handed the iconic No. 10 jersey, a shirt most recently associated with Marcus Rashford, who is reportedly considering moving abroad.
Speaking on the transfer, a source close to Cunha said the forward sees Manchester United as a major step forward in his career and is determined to make his mark at one of Europe’s elite clubs.
The move is expected to be formally completed once the current season wraps up, with medicals and official unveiling scheduled in the coming weeks.
With this acquisition, United aim to bolster their attacking options under Erik ten Hag and return to consistent top-tier contention domestically and in Europe.
