Popular Kannywood actress Mansura Isah has opened up about the pain and betrayal she suffered during her brief second marriage, describing the ordeal as something out of a tragic movie.
In a revealing interview with BBC Hausa’s Mahangar Zamani, where she appeared alongside fellow actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura recounted how her second husband allegedly deceived her into a relationship to gain access to a multi-billion naira contract she was managing.
“I married for love, but it turns out he had a different intention,” Mansura said.
“He used marriage as a cover to hijack a multi-billion naira contract I was handling.”
According to the actress, she met the man through an uncle while working on a N4 billion deal in Lagos. With no representative available, she entrusted him with overseeing the contract. Their professional partnership quickly turned romantic, culminating in a private wedding.
“I thought he was genuine. We got married at night, and the next morning, he left for Lagos,” she recalled.
The real heartbreak followed shortly after. During her wedding celebration, he allegedly returned with contract documents and pressured her into signing over control of the deal—on the grounds that they were now legally married. After getting her signature, Mansura says, he completely cut her off.
“He stopped picking my calls. When confronted by family, he claimed he had forgotten he was married,” she said. “Eventually, he issued a divorce under pressure.”
Fati Mohammad, who joined Mansura on the program, also weighed in on the increasing rate of failed marriages in Kannywood, blaming societal double standards and opportunistic men.
“Some men marry actresses out of lust. Once they get what they want, they abandon the marriage,” she said.
“People also wrongly assume that actresses are too used to luxury to endure marriage, but the reality is more complex.”
Mansura’s second marriage made headlines in June 2024, following her high-profile split from actor Sani Danja, with whom she shares four children: Iman, Khalifa, Sultan, and Sudais.
At the time, her second wedding went viral on social media, with clips highlighting a ₦1 million bride price. What started as a fairytale has now ended in disappointment and painful reflection.
“I’ve accepted my fate,” Mansura concluded. “It was painful, but I’ve learned my lesson.”
