The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has asserted that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is nearing total collapse and may cease to exist before the close of 2025.
This declaration came as a rebuttal to recent comments by former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, who had forecasted the eventual disintegration of the APC, suggesting that former PDP members like Ganduje would return to the party.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje described Lamido’s assertions as “baseless and irrational,” stating that he had no interest in rejoining what he termed a “dying” party.
“In fact, very soon we will welcome Sule Lamido into the APC because he will have nowhere else to go. The PDP is dead,” Ganduje said.
He claimed that ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP would ultimately result in its complete collapse. Ganduje further noted that the APC, under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, continues to gain momentum, with more politicians defecting from opposition parties.
Reiterating his dedication to leading the APC as Nigeria’s and sub-Saharan Africa’s largest political party, the Chairman highlighted the party’s ongoing efforts to improve internal democracy and governance at all levels.
He advised Lamido and other PDP members to concentrate on resolving their party’s internal issues rather than speculating about the APC’s future.
