The police have once again arraigned controversial social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over allegations of cyberbullying actresses Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo.
He is also facing accusations of cyberbullying well-known Nigerian music producer and singer Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef, along with other individuals.
VDM appeared before Justice Musa Liman of the Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday, where he was re-arraigned on a five-count charge.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, requested that the court allow VDM to remain on the bail previously granted by Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of another Federal High Court.
Victor Okoye, representing the Inspector General of Police, raised no objections, and the judge ruled that VDM should continue under the earlier bail conditions. The trial was subsequently adjourned to July 24.
VeryDarkMan was initially arraigned on May 22, 2024, before Justice Olajuwon on the same charges, which fall under Section 24 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
On June 10, 2024, VeryDarkMan was granted bail in the sum of N10 million, with two sureties required to either work for reputable organizations or be federal civil servants of at least Level 17, with proof of three years’ tax clearance.
