President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been honored with the chieftaincy title Dike Si Mba Anambra (Warrior from the Diaspora) by traditional rulers representing all 179 communities in Anambra State.
The title was officially bestowed by Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi, Eze Iweka III), Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, during Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state on Thursday. The event was held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Igwe Iweka noted that the title reflected a unanimous decision by Anambra’s traditional rulers, in recognition of President Tinubu’s significant contributions to national development and his positive impact across the country.
“This is a title from all the royal fathers in the 179 communities of Anambra State. The title is called ‘Dike si mba Anambra’, meaning ‘warrior from the Diaspora,’ and it is in recognition of your good works across the country,” he stated.
He further lauded Tinubu’s commitment to critical infrastructure projects, such as the roads linking to the Second Niger Bridge and various other community developments.
In his response, Tinubu expressed gratitude for the honour and emphasized unity and progress as the path forward for the nation.
“Our diversity must lead to prosperity; we must work together to lead Nigeria. We must commit ourselves for the development of the country.
“I feel deeply honoured by the conferment of a chieftaincy title by the royal fathers of this state. Today is not only historic, but one which I will forever treasure for the rest of my life,” he said.
While in the state, President Tinubu also commissioned several key projects delivered by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration. These included the new State Government House, the Governor’s Lodge, the Solution Fun City, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, and various infrastructure at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.
Among those in attendance were National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Alex Otti (Abia), Peter Mbah (Enugu); and Minister of Works Dave Umahi.
