Real Madrid has informed Xabi Alonso, the manager-elect, that the LaLiga club will have the ultimate say on new player acquisitions.
Alonso has confirmed his departure from Bayer Leverkusen this upcoming summer. It is widely anticipated that he will succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid and is already making plans for the team.
Despite Xabi Alonso’s recommendation to sign Martin Zubimendi, Madrid has stated they do not intend to bring in a no.6 this season.
The club made it clear to Alonso that while they value his input, the final decisions regarding signings are solely in their hands.
Alonso has reportedly respected this decision. Zubimendi is reportedly in talks to join Arsenal from Real Sociedad.
