Salah named FWA Footballer of the Year

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.

The forward secured 90% of the total votes to claim the award.

The Egyptian international has netted 33 goals and contributed 23 assists in all competitions this season, including 28 goals in the Premier League.

His standout performances were instrumental in helping Liverpool secure their 20th English top-flight title, drawing them level with Manchester United for the most in history.

This marks Salah’s third time winning the prestigious award, matching the record held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. He previously won in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons.

His teammate, Virgil van Dijk, finished second in the voting.
