Iconic singer Smokey Robinson is facing serious allegations after four women filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual misconduct.
TMZ reports that the 85-year-old Motown legend is being sued for alleged repeated sexual assault and rape by four former housekeepers who were employed by him at overlapping times. The earliest reported incident dates back to 2007.
In the legal documents filed on May 6, the women — identified as Jane Does — claim Robinson would summon them to his bedroom or other secluded areas when his wife was away. There, he allegedly engaged in unwanted sexual acts including digital penetration, forced oral sex (both giving and receiving), and rape.
The suit also includes graphic details, such as Smokey Robinson allegedly using towels and ejaculating inside some of the women without protection.
The plaintiffs are seeking over $50 million in damages and are suing for sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, and gender-based violence.
Interestingly, the lawsuit also names Smokey Robinson’s wife, Frances, though she is not accused of directly participating in the abuse. The women allege she was aware of previous misconduct and did nothing to prevent further abuse. They also claim she used racially offensive language and fostered a hostile work environment.
As of now, neither Robinson nor his representatives have issued a statement in response to the allegations.
