Popular Nigerian socialite and food critic Opeyemi Famakin is under fire after showcasing his perfume collection online — a display that has drawn accusations of counterfeit products from fragrance enthusiasts.
Famakin, who once boldly claimed to be “the best-smelling man in Lagos,” recently revealed he spent over N1 million on niche perfumes. However, his collection came under scrutiny when X user @mowaGLINT, a self-described perfume expert, questioned the authenticity of the items.
“Hi Opeyemi, who is your perfume plug?” she asked. “This is not me trying to be funny, but they are selling fake to you in case you’re unaware.
I work with Floraiku and I’ve unboxed eight of their perfumes directly from the brand. This is not their packaging — this looks fake.”
The post quickly gained traction, sparking a mix of reactions online. While some defended Famakin’s luxury taste, others urged him to verify the legitimacy of his sources.
Famakin has yet to publicly respond to the allegations at the time of this report.
