Bashir Ahmad, former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has strongly condemned the gruesome killings of over 200 people in Benue State, describing the attackers as terrorists and enemies of the nation.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Ahmad reacted to reports of the violent attacks on Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area.
“What has been happening in Benue is condemnable and entirely unacceptable. Those responsible for these atrocities are terrorists and enemies of us all. Nigeria will win,” he stated.
Ahmad’s remarks come as public outrage continues to mount over the massacre, which left scores dead and many displaced following coordinated assaults by suspected herdsmen on June 13.
His comment adds to a growing list of voices—including religious leaders, civil society groups, and international observers—demanding urgent action to end the cycle of violence plaguing Benue and other parts of Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
