“Being in Opposition Is Not War” – Suspended Senator Natasha Opens Up on Her Relationship With the President

Court Stops INEC from Initiating Recall Process Against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has publicly addressed her relationship with President Bola Tinubu, describing it as “peaceful and respectful” despite her status as an opposition lawmaker.

The clarification comes amid recent allegations by UK-based businesswoman Sandra Duru, who accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of plotting to destabilize the Tinubu-led administration by allegedly targeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“I Have No Issues With Tinubu” – Akpoti-Uduaghan

Speaking in response, the senator denied ever making any anti-Tinubu statements or being involved in activities meant to undermine the federal government.

“I have never engaged in tribal or divisive politics. My background and values simply don’t support that,” she said.

She maintained that her relationship with President Tinubu has been grounded in mutual respect and national interest, noting that she has personally met with him on several occasions, particularly on important matters such as the Ajaokuta Steel probe.

Accusations Likely Sponsored – Senator Suggests Political Intimidation

Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed Duru’s claims as false and politically motivated, speculating that they were sponsored by individuals uneasy with the support she enjoys both locally and internationally.

She hinted that her cordial rapport with the President may have unsettled some political figures—including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who allegedly once questioned her husband about her private meetings with Tinubu.

“My unresolved issues are with Akpabio, not the Senate, not the Presidency, and certainly not with the Nigerian people,” she clarified.

“Being in Opposition Is Not War”

The lawmaker emphasized that opposition does not equate to antagonism, stressing that her focus remains on serving the people of Kogi Central.

“My job is to work for my people, not to fight anyone,” she added. “I will continue to push for development, transparency, and national progress.”
