The cause of death for Ronald Fenty, father of global music star Rihanna, has been disclosed.
Ronald, 71, passed away last month in Los Angeles after what was described as a “brief illness.” He died while surrounded by family at a hospital.
According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ on Thursday, Ronald’s death was attributed to multiple complications, including acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer, and aspiration pneumonia—a lung infection caused by inhaling food, stomach acid, or saliva into the lungs.
Additional causes listed include acute renal failure and acute tubular necrosis, suggesting severe kidney damage.
So far, Rihanna—whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty—and her representatives have not released a public statement regarding her father’s passing.
The Umbrella singer is currently expecting her third child with rapper A$AP Rocky. The couple are already parents to two sons: RZA, 3, and Riot, 22 months.
Though Ronald Fenty generally kept a low public profile, he once expressed joy at Rihanna’s growing family. Following her pregnancy reveal during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2023, he told TMZ he was “over the moon.”
