Popular Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has candidly reflected on a past chapter of his life, admitting that he was once involved with multiple women, a period he now views as a learning phase that helped shape his current views on relationships and marriage.
In a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor, who made a career switch from engineering to acting, responded thoughtfully when asked if he was ever a womanizer.
“Maybe there was a time in my life I was. Definitions would differ, but in that definition, maybe there was a period in my life that I explored. So, perhaps,” he said.
While he acknowledged that the experience might have seemed “cool” at the time, Etim-Effiong said it came with long-term realizations.
“Yes, they were periods of learning for me. If I learned, then they were good periods,” he reflected.
“Player Lifestyle Has Consequences”
Speaking directly to younger people who may view womanizing as glamorous, Etim-Effiong offered a word of caution:
“I tell young people a lot that it is cool to be a player, but if you develop that habit or lifestyle, you won’t automatically change overnight.”
He explained that such behavior often forms a pattern that can negatively affect one’s future, especially in marriage.
“When you marry, that muscle [of commitment] hasn’t been developed, so you encounter one challenge and you want to immediately jump… If you are the kind of person that before you got married it was easy for you to just walk away, keep different relationships, keep ladies on the string, that won’t change when you get married.”
The actor, who is now happily married, emphasized the importance of developing healthy habits before entering into long-term commitments.
Etim-Effiong’s transparency has sparked conversation online, with many praising his honesty and use of past experiences to guide younger men toward more responsible relationship choices.
