Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has erupted in anger after skit maker and content creator Carter Efe publicly criticised him for demanding a ₦10 million fee to appear on a TikTok live stream.
According to reports, Carter Efe had approached Portable with hopes of featuring him in a live broadcast.
However, the negotiation took a sharp turn when Portable allegedly insisted on the eye-watering sum. In response, Carter Efe, clearly stunned, took to social media to vent his frustration.
“How much we dey make for the live stream? I just tire,” Carter lamented, questioning the singer’s steep demand.
Portable Fires Back: “Thief! You Used My Boy”
Not one to shy away from drama, Portable fired back in a no-holds-barred video, accusing Carter Efe of hypocrisy and exploitation. The “Zazu” crooner referenced Carter’s past dealings with his former signee, Young Duu, claiming the skit maker ripped off the upcoming artist despite moving him to Lekki.
“Thief, you ripped my boy. You carry am go Lekki, you no give am food chop, buy am car, or clothes. You wan use me? Bring money first!” Portable said in a heated outburst.
He went on to defend his decision to charge for his appearance, insisting that his brand commands value and that he won’t fall into the same trap as Young Duu.
“Na Young Duu no get sense, now dem don use am. I dey tell am that time, when they call you, ask for money,” he added.
Carter Efe vs. Young Duu: A Pattern?
This latest clash has reignited conversations around Carter Efe’s alleged exploitative relationships with rising talents. His fallout with Young Duu, which previously made headlines, included accusations that Carter underfunded and underpromoted the artist despite promising support under his label.
With Portable now drawing a line, fans are split — some back Portable’s refusal to work for free, while others question whether the ₦10 million demand was realistic.
One thing’s certain: in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, business and friendships rarely mix quietly.
