Burna Boy Reacts After Burkina Faso President Reportedly Rejects His Free Concert Offer

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has broken his silence following viral reports that the President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, allegedly turned down his offer to host a free concert in the country.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Burna Boy had expressed interest in organizing a no-charge show for Burkinabé citizens. However, President Traoré reportedly declined, citing that “Burkina Faso does not need distractions” as the nation focuses on its ongoing security and development efforts.

Burna Boy Slams Critics: “You Are Not Qualified to Speak My Name”

In a fiery response posted on his social media pages, Burna Boy addressed the backlash he received from some critics, who mocked the incident and described it as an embarrassment. He labeled such remarks as baseless and disrespectful, emphasizing his longstanding dedication to Africa and its people.

“I said I wanted to do a free show in Burkina Faso and I got a lot of positivity but at the same time, surprisingly, some morons said a lot of unbelievably negative sh*t that had me in shock,” he wrote.

He continued with a bold message for his detractors:

“1. I’m sorry but YOU are not qualified to even speak my name if your only contribution to this world is typing dumb comments or talking into your -ap ring light and phone.

  1. How can you tell me what to do for any part of my home Africa when nobody in the history of your family tree has done anything significant or even at all for any part of Africa — or even planet earth as a whole?

  1. I have nothing to gain from anybody and I don’t owe anyone anything — but that never stopped me from doing the great work I do. My integrity is unquestionable. Therefore, burn in hell if you said anything negative.”

A Pan-African Artist With a Mission

Known for his unapologetic Pan-African stance, Burna Boy has consistently used his platform to highlight issues affecting Africa and to promote unity across the continent. Whether through his music, activism, or charity work, he has repeatedly emphasized the importance of giving back.

While the Burkinabé presidency has yet to issue an official statement directly confirming or denying the reports, Burna Boy’s response makes it clear he remains unshaken in his intent to use his influence for what he believes is the greater good of Africa.

Despite the controversy, many of his fans have continued to support him, praising his passion for the continent and defending his desire to connect with fellow Africans, regardless of politics or borders.
