“Nigeria Would Be in Chaos Without Prayer” – Pastor Enoch Adeboye Declares

Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has emphasized that Nigeria’s condition would have been much worse without the continuous prayers of believers.

Speaking on Sunday, June 1, during RCCG’s monthly Thanksgiving service and special prayers for security and paramilitary officers at the church’s headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye urged Christians not to relent in their intercession for the country.

“If We Hadn’t Prayed, Nigeria Would Be Worse”

Reacting to public skepticism about the effectiveness of prayer, he said:

“Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting — where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop.”

He stressed that divine intervention still plays a key role in the affairs of nations, adding:

“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings.”

“RCCG Enjoys Divine Preservation”

Preaching on the theme “Shadow of the Almighty”, Pastor Adeboye pointed to several miraculous incidents that he believes reflect God’s supernatural protection over RCCG. One of such events was in the United States, where a house fellowship venue was the only one spared during a flood that affected 14 neighboring houses.

“House number eight, with the RCCG sign, was the only one spared… That is not a coincidence — that is divine covering,” he explained.

He also mentioned the Otedola Bridge fire incident earlier this year, where several buildings were razed, except an RCCG property that remained untouched:

“Buildings before and after were destroyed, but the RCCG building stood. That’s not ordinary.”

Prayers for Nigeria and Its Leaders

His wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, led a passionate prayer for Nigeria’s peace and divine guidance for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu:

“Let us ask God to have mercy on our president and give him peace, so he may find joy in his tenure.”

The service also paid special tribute to security and paramilitary forces, reflecting the church’s continued commitment to national peace, unity, and intercession.

Pastor Adeboye concluded with a strong reassurance:

“Your safety is in God. His protection may not be visible, but it is always present. Whether young or old, in peace or in crisis, the Almighty covers His own.”
