Former Big Brother Naija housemate and actor, Elozonam Ogbolu, has sparked an online debate after criticizing outdated notions of masculinity in Nigeria.
Speaking on the “In The Company Of Men” podcast, Elozonam called out men who believe activities like cooking, buying sanitary pads, or satisfying their partners sexually make them “less of a man.”
“Some guys think giving a woman head isn’t masculine. Buying groceries, cooking, or buying pads makes them uncomfortable,” he said, labeling such views as clear examples of toxic masculinity.
He also highlighted how some women perpetuate these harmful ideals by glorifying controlling and abusive behaviors, mistakenly equating them with love.
“There are women who can’t date you unless you’re toxic. They think being controlling or even violent means love. Some even say a man doesn’t love you if he doesn’t beat you. How?” he added.
Elozonam’s bold remarks have ignited widespread conversations about modern masculinity and gender roles in Nigerian relationships.
