Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2029.
The 27-year-old Brazilian, who originally joined Arsenal from Lille in 2020 for £27 million, was already under contract until 2027. However, this new deal is a clear signal of his growing influence in Mikel Arteta’s squad and the club’s long-term plans.
“I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years I’m so happy and I’ve learned a lot,” Gabriel said. “It’s an amazing journey, and I’m so happy to continue it. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club too.”
Gabriel has made 210 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, establishing himself as a vital component of the team’s defensive core. His partnership with William Saliba since 2022 has become one of the strongest in the Premier League, with Gabriel also contributing goals from set pieces.
Unfortunately, the centre-back missed the crucial final stretch of the 2024–25 season due to a hamstring injury. In his absence, Arsenal faltered in the Premier League title race and were eliminated from the Champions League semi-finals by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.
Looking ahead, Arsenal are aiming to strengthen further this summer. The club is pushing to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and actively searching for a new striker to bolster their attacking options.
With Gabriel now secured, Arsenal fans will hope his return to fitness and form will help drive the team to silverware in the upcoming season.
