Goodluck Jonathan Denies Viral Instagram Post Suggesting 2027 Presidential Run

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied any link to a viral Instagram post suggesting he plans to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027.

The controversial post, shared by an account bearing his name, criticised the current leadership and urged Nigerians to “pray that we will get our good leadership back in 2027.” The post also included an AI-generated image showing Jonathan shaking hands with former US President Donald Trump.

The post sparked major online buzz, garnering over 16,000 views and more than 1,200 comments.

Reacting, Jonathan’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, clarified to TheCable on Friday that the ex-president has no official Instagram account and is not associated with the post.

“Former President Jonathan does not own an Instagram account,” Eze stated.

This isn’t the first instance of such misinformation. Before the 2023 elections, Jonathan distanced himself from an APC nomination form reportedly bought in his name, stating he neither authorized nor endorsed it.
