Music icon Mariah Carey has revealed that she refuses to acknowledge the concept of time — including clocks, time zones, and even birthdays.
During a recent appearance on Capital FM, the 56-year-old star left the show’s co-hosts — Sian Welby, Jordan North, and Chris Stark — baffled with her unconventional views.
“That is true,” Mariah Carey confirmed when asked if she rejects the idea of time altogether. When pressed to elaborate, she added simply, “I just don’t believe in it.”
Stark, visibly confused, asked if she was referring specifically to the challenges of adjusting to different time zones. Carey clarified, “No, just time.”
When the hosts asked about her relationship with clocks, the Dreamlover singer responded bluntly: “Yeah. No, just let it go.”
The conversation turned to birthdays, prompting even more head-scratching. Welby asked whether Mariah Carey celebrates her birthday each year, to which she firmly replied: “I don’t have a birthday, no. Anniversaries, yes.”
Still curious about how she manages her schedule without recognizing time, Stark asked how she arranges meetings. Mariah Carey coolly replied, “Yeah, I would have someone call you and figure it out.”
