Kevin De Bruyne is expected to arrive in Naples by Thursday to undergo medical tests and finalize the last formalities of his sensational free transfer to Napoli, Gistreel Sports understands.
According to Football Italia, all contract terms have been agreed upon, with the Belgian midfielder set to join the Serie A champions after his contract with Manchester City expired. Barring any unforeseen delays, the transfer is expected to be officially completed by the end of this week.
The 32-year-old playmaker has agreed to a two-year deal with an option for an additional season, bringing to a close a glittering ten-year tenure at City where he captured six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
Napoli, now under the management of Antonio Conte, had been confident of landing De Bruyne since early May.
His wife has already visited Naples to secure housing and make arrangements for their children’s schooling, indicating the family’s readiness for the move.
De Bruyne is likely to become Napoli’s first summer signing, with a deal for Empoli’s 20-year-old defender Luca Marianucci also close to completion.
