Trace Cyrus has taken to social media to publicly criticize his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, accusing him of prioritizing fame over family.
In a pointed Instagram post, Trace called out the Hannah Montana actor for skipping the funeral of his maternal grandmother, Loretta Finley, to attend a fashion show in Italy. He wrote, “This man is so hungry for fame it’s pathetic,” alongside a photo of Billy Ray.
Trace further claimed that his father refused to travel to Los Angeles for the funeral, even though “he was still married to my mom” at the time. According to Trace, Billy Ray was offered a $60,000 private jet arranged by his daughter but still chose not to attend. “You’re the lamest man ever to walk planet earth,” Trace added. “Honestly embarrassed to have ever considered you my idol.”
The post ended with a clown emoji and a final statement from Trace: “The best thing to come from your downfall is it made me go into beast mode. I refuse to be a washed-up, delusional, evil person when I’m old like you.”
Trace’s mother, Tish Cyrus, divorced Billy Ray in 2022 after years of marital ups and downs, which has since led to a public and ongoing rift within the family. Loretta Finley, Tish’s mother, passed away in 2020 at the age of 85.
Billy Ray and Tish share several children: Brandi, Trace—who Billy Ray adopted after marrying Tish—Miley, Braison, and Noah. Billy Ray also has an older son, Christopher, from a previous relationship.
