Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has clarified the nature of his relationship with longtime football rival Cristiano Ronaldo, describing it as “normal” and “respectful,” though not personal.
In an interview with DSsports, Messi said:
“The competition with him was on the pitch. Obviously, as always, everything stayed on the field. Off the pitch, we are two normal people. We are not friends, we don’t spend time together. But we have always treated each other with respect.”
The two legends famously faced off during Spain’s El Clasico showdowns between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Ronaldo now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, while Messi represents Inter Miami in the MLS.
