Manchester City have sealed a deal to sign Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for €55 million (approx. £46.3 million), with performance-related add-ons potentially increasing the fee to €70 million.
The 26-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract and will undergo a medical in the coming days, becoming City’s first major signing of the summer transfer window.
Reijnders had a stellar 2024/25 season in Serie A, scoring 15 goals and providing 4 assists, earning him the Midfielder of the Year award. Praised for his vision, technique, and composure, he is widely viewed as a natural successor to Kevin De Bruyne, who recently left the club.
Remarkably, Reijnders was named after former Nigerian international Tijani Babangida, underscoring his family’s football roots. From working at Aldi to dominating Europe’s top leagues, his journey is one of grit and determination.
Manchester City see Reijnders as a key figure in their midfield rebuild, as they gear up for another title challenge and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
