Tanzanian political activist Mange Kimambi has issued a stern warning to Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo, urging her to stay out of the social media limelight as Tanzania prepares for a critical election season.
Priscilla, daughter of popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, recently made headlines following her marriage to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
While many Tanzanians warmly welcomed the union, Mange Kimambi took to Instagram to advise the couple to stay under the radar for the next five months.
“This Is a Fight of a Lifetime” – Kimambi
In a passionate post shared to her Instagram page, Kimambi praised Priscilla as a “sweet girl” but stressed that Tanzania is currently engaged in a serious political struggle. With the nation’s general elections approaching, the activist said that Tanzanians must stay focused and avoid distractions, particularly from celebrities.
“@its.priscy, your Tanzanian in-laws love you. You seem like such a sweet girl, we have welcomed you into our country with loving arms. But Tanzania is in a fight of a lifetime. We are fighting for our rights,” she wrote.
She continued:
“We need our people to pay attention to the fight, so we don’t need you and Jux to distract our people with stupid content that the government wants you guys to post. We are on their ass and we ain’t letting up.”
A Call to Avoid “Clout-Chasing Content”
Kimambi, known for her strong political views, alleged that the government may be using celebrity content to divert public attention from important civic issues. She urged Priscilla and Jux to refrain from posting social media content that could be seen as attention-seeking or irrelevant to the current national discourse.
“Please don’t make us hate you, our in-law. When you go to London next week, keep Jux in the room and no posting stupid stuff to distract us from this fight of a lifetime.”
She further suggested that if the couple needed to engage in clout-chasing (popularly known as “kiki”), they should do so in Nigeria rather than Tanzania.
Kimambi also called on Jux’s friend, Diamond Platnumz, to remain quiet during the election period.
“Tell Jux to tell his bestie @diamondplatnumz to also lay low for the next five months. We know you people won’t join our fight since you enjoy the privilege our government is providing you at our expense, but kindly don’t derail our efforts.”
“We Love Nigerians, Don’t Take This the Wrong Way”
Despite the strong tone, Kimambi ended her message with affection:
“Again, we love you, our sweet, beautiful girl, so don’t take this the wrong way. We adore you. We love Nigerians.”
Her statement has sparked discussions across Tanzanian and Nigerian social media communities, with many debating the role of influencers during periods of political unrest.
