Maxo Kream’s 2025 just hit a legal snag.
The Houston rapper, known for his gritty storytelling and standout 2024 album Personification, was reportedly arrested in Harris County, Texas, following a traffic stop that quickly escalated.
According to TMZ Hip Hop, authorities pulled Maxo Kream over for driving with an expired license plate — which reportedly expired back in May. What should have been a routine stop turned into more trouble when the rapper allegedly drove off as the officer approached. However, he didn’t get far and soon pulled over again after being briefly pursued.
Things got worse when police allegedly discovered two firearms in his vehicle. Due to Maxo’s alleged gang affiliation, he was slapped with a charge for unlawful gun possession. In addition, he faces a misdemeanor charge for fleeing or attempting to flee law enforcement.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 7.
Maxo Kream’s lawyer, Carl A. Moore, pushed back strongly against the accusations. “Maxo did not flee from the police, he complied with the commands of the arresting officer. We plan to fight these accusations in court,” Moore told TMZ.
This legal bump isn’t the first time Maxo’s name has made headlines this year. Earlier, he was caught on camera in a heated parking lot altercation with fellow artist D Flowers — a clip that went viral and sparked both criticism and memes across social media.
Adding to the mix, Maxo recently accused Logic of sampling his 2019 track Meet Again without proper credit. Logic responded by noting the sample has been used by several artists over the years, including Nas, and expressed openness to a future collaboration.
While Maxo Kream’s music continues to make noise, his 2025 is now being overshadowed by mounting legal issues and public controversies. Whether he can flip the narrative remains to be seen.
