Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe and her ex-husband, businessman Lanre Gentry, are joyfully celebrating their son, Juwon Gentry, as he clocks 15.
Mercy, who had been counting down to the special day, shared stunning photos of her teenage son on Instagram on Wednesday. In her heartfelt caption, she described Juwon as her “sunshine” while praying for God’s favour, protection, and wisdom upon his life.
“It’s officially Star Boy Juwon’s Day! Happy birthday to my Sunshine! On this special day, I pray God’s favour, protection and wisdom over you, son. I love you more than words can say! Have fun, my heartbeat!” she wrote.
Her ex-husband, Lanre Gentry, also marked the occasion with a touching video of Juwon accompanied by a prayerful message:
“Today is your day, my son. I pray for God’s protection on you. May God be with you always for me, my Olajuwon Gentry. Happy birthday to you. Long life and prosperity to you olajuwon.gentry,” he posted.
On the eve of his birthday, Mercy shared more photos of Juwon, fondly calling him her “chocolate,” “sweetheart,” and “everything.” She notably skipped fellow actress Priscilla Ojo’s wedding in Tanzania, which coincided with Children’s Day, to accompany Juwon for his brand-related engagements.
Sharing moments from the airport, Mercy wrote:
“Reporting for manager duties with my kid influencer son.”
Mercy Aigbe, 47, is a proud mother of two. She shares Juwon with Lanre Gentry, whom she married in 2013 before their separation in 2017 amid allegations of domestic abuse and infidelity. Her first child, Michelle Aigbe, is from an earlier relationship.
Earlier this year, Mercy publicly apologised to Michelle, reflecting on the strict parenting she employed while raising her as a single mother.
The award-winning actress holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos and has starred in numerous Yoruba-language films, including Ada Omo Daddy and Farmer’s Bride.
